1-2-1 Training

Although many dogs are happy in the training class environment, for many this situation is too stressful, too noisy or too frightening and therefore isn’t conducive to learning, for either the dog or their owner. In this situation it is usually better to remove or keep the dog away from the classes until he or she can learn to work and be relaxed in the presence of other dogs. This is where 1-2-1 classes can be of real help as the dog can learn in the safety of it’s own home, before carefully transferring the training on into more distracting and stimulating environments. As dogs don’t generalise most behaviours, it is really important that they rehearse all of the training in as many different environments as possible; but they must be allowed to succeed, which is why we start where there are less distractions and progress from there.

1-2-1 training is available for dogs that have had little or no training, but is also available if your dog has specific training problems – these include:

Jumping up
Pulling on the lead
Recall
Distance control – Sits and Downs
Stays
Giving up objects
